Demand for fat cattle at Ballymena Mart is holding steady, with another good sale of 430 animals last week.
Fat cows sold to a top price of 225p/kg for a 900kg Belgian Blue animal, followed by £1,856 for 880kg Blue cow.
Other noted prices saw the main trade for good-quality fat cows making 160p to 180p/kg, with several lots weighing 630kg to 700kg selling from £1,100 to £1,200.
Feeding cows sold from 140p/kg to 150/kg, with top-quality Friesian cows selling from 100p/kg to 120p/kg.
Beef bullocks sold to a top price of £1,741 for an 810kg Belgian Blue, with prices ranging from 180p to 214p/kg depending on the quality of cattle.
Beef heifers sold to a top price of £1,155 for a 550kg Limousin animal. The general price range for heifers was 180p to 210p/kg.
Friesian bullocks were in demand. Prices paid ranged from 142p to 169p/kg for well-fleshed animals.
