Lamb prices have steadied as the supply of hoggets begins to tail off. Factory quotes are at 460p/kg, although some farmers and supply groups with larger numbers of in-spec lambs are securing 470p/kg as NI processors compete with southern plants to secure throughput.
Prices south of the border are holding at €5.90/kg (£4.76/kg). Processors have yet to switch over fully to new season lamb, with the NI kill split evenly between hoggets and spring lambs. Hoggets are moving at 415p/kg this week.
In Britain, the kill is still heavily reliant on hoggets, with prices at 410p to 415p/kg this week. Sheep markets in France are steady for imported lamb.
