In late October, Garrett and Lyndsey Behan brought Roscommon to a standstill when they sold Simmental bull Clonagh Lucky Explorer for a record-breaking price of €52,000. Now the herd looks forward to its first ever online festive female production sale on Friday 11 December.
The sale will be a timed auction on the sales platform pedigreeonlinesales.co.uk. Although only a new platform, the site is gaining much traction, given the success of the Trueman and Rathnashan sales hosted earlier this year.
In total, 11 Clonagh and Jennalyn maiden heifers will be offered from the core of the herd.
Included are females from all the top female lines and daughters of record-breaking sires Manor Farm Handsome and Kilbride Farm Dragoon. Handsome is the sire of the recent record-breaker Lucky Explorer, while a daughter of Dragoon last year sold for €18,000, setting a new female record at a society sale. Most of the dams of the sale heifers go back in some way to former herd sire Banwy T-Rex, which still stands as the only bull to secure three consecutive overall national titles.
Described as “visually and genetically the best group” they have offered for sale, it is sure to offer breeders both here and in the UK a great chance to secure foundation stock.
