The Irish Charolais Cattle Society hosts the World Charolais Technical Conference this year.
The event, set to attract hundreds of Charolais enthusiasts from across the world, takes place from 4 to 12 August.
For Ireland to be chosen to host such a prestigious event is a testament to the quality of Charolais cattle we breed and a number of key dedicated breeders helping to boost our international image.
Along with seeing some of the best herds in the country, namely Skidoo, Knockmahon and Bostonia, the international guests will get a taste of Ireland at the week-long event.
As well as attending these select herds, delegates get to visit the Guinness Storehouse, National Stud, Tullamore Distillery and Coolmore Stud, to name a few.
On the cattle breeding front, the technical conference takes place at the Lyrath Hotel on Thursday 8 August.
This conference will include presentations and seminars from various personnel involved in the cattle breeding industry in Ireland on the topic of genomics. Each country represented will also get to present on the topic.

On top of this, visits are organised to the Teagasc beef research centre in Grange, Co Meath, Kepak feedlot in Clonee, the Tully test performance centre and finally the society’s national Charolais show held at Tullamore Show on 11 August.
Events like these are designed to facilitate information transfer and develop genetic progress within breeds. All those involved in the breed should take time out and attend as much of the events open to the public as possible.
