The sheep section just gets bigger and better each year.
This year there are no less than 21 breeds exhibiting at the Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show.
With almost 1,000 entries in the sheep section, there will probably be breeds many have not seen before.
The 2024 sheep show sees a record 1,000 sheep entries which includes 45 sheep in the Commercial Sheep classes.
The Welsh Lleyn and Lanark breeds will attend the national show on the day with some big classes in each of these breeds.
There will be a sheep shearing demo going on throughout the day, along with talks on mental health by the famous sheep shearer George Graham.
Farming can be a lonely life and mental health is an important topic to discuss. George will talk about his challenges in life and how he dealt with them.
Sheepdog training
A lot of sheep farmers need a well-trained sheepdog to make their job easier.
Sheepdog training and working demos will take place near the sheep area. They are a spectacle to watch. A walk around the rare breeds with Highland cattle and many more on view is a must on show day.
The Tullamore Agriculture Show is proud to present its thriving art and photography section, offering a range of competitions for young and old alike. Children aged eight to 17 can showcase their creative talents in art and photography, with categories to suit all skill levels.
Meanwhile, adults can also get involved, in separate competitions for both art and photography. A new addition this year is the special educational needs category for underage art and photography, providing an inclusive platform for talented young artists and photographers to shine. Whether you’re an amateur or just starting out, the Tullamore Show’s art and photography section is the perfect opportunity to express yourself and be recognised for your work.
On the day, visitors can also enjoy an exhibition of local talent from brother and sister duo, Ken and Sarah Colton, who are renowned for their exceptional artistic skills, honed through self-taught expertise in a variety of mediums. Their stunning works will be on display throughout the day, offering a unique opportunity to appreciate their creative flair.
Additionally, the Tullamore Camera Club will be showcasing their impressive collection of photographs, a testament to the club’s dedication and passion for capturing the beauty of our local surroundings. Over the years, the club has been a constant source of inspiration and support for many photographers in the area, and it’s a pleasure to welcome them back to the show once again.
