Organic changes
Current chair of the board of directors for the Scottish Organic Producers Association (SOPA) Alexander Brewster has decided to take a sabbatical for one year and so vice-chair Edward Smith will step up to fill his role as chair.
Following Edward’s move board member Gordon Whiteford will take on the position of vice-chair.
AP Jess losses
Scottish meat company AP Jess has suffered losses of more than £250,000 following a fire at one of the company’s plants, Brechin, last year.
Accounts with Companies House reveal that AP Jess had a pre-tax loss of £250,541 for the year ending 31 March 2017.
Also, a fire that occurred in March last year damaged some of the office block on site.
The previous year, the company earned pre-tax profits of £1.452m.
AP Jess is a family owned business that was established in 1976 and is based in Sandyford Abattoir in Paisley. The company runs a processing, manufacturing and distribution operation.
