A couple of elections are taking place in the IFA this week. Tom Phelan’s successor as dairy chair will be either Wicklow farmer Stephen Arthur, currently acting chair, or Alan Jagoe. Should Jagoe win, he will step down from his other current role as Agri Aware chair.

The livestock committee selects a vice-chair. I haven’t heard of any challenge to incumbent Declan Hanrahan, but we’ll have to wait until the postal votes are counted on Friday to know for sure.
