Photographer to the stars and, potato aficionado, Kevin Abosch photographed a picture of a simple potato. This is where the story stops being simple.
The shot was called “Potato #345? (2010) and was subsequently sold for over $1m or €1m. It was hanging in a studio in Paris and the price was non-negotiable. The deal was struck towards the end of 2015.
That’s a lot of bread for a bit of starch. I love my spuds but I’m not sure I could stump that much a potato.
Abosch is the same man behind the Faces of Ireland exhibition. You might recognise the work. It was a series of 250 photos of faces which are hung in terminal two of Dublin airport.
The above photo was used with permission of Kevin Abosch. More of Abosch’s work can be found on www.kevinabosch.com.
