Joseph Coogan Auctioneer & Valuer based in Castlecomer in Co Kilkenny auctioned 47ac of grazing ground on conacre terms.
The land at Raheenanahown, Stradbally, Co Laois, is available from now until 15 November 2022 and there are no entitlements attached.
Auctioneer Joseph Coonan reported strong interest in the auction with six or seven active bidders taking part.
Lots
Lot 1 was a five-acre roadside field and bidding began at €150/ac before the gavel fell at €640/ac.
Lot 2 consisted of 42ac of grassland that was accessed from the public road via a laneway and had a water supply and cattle crush. Bidding for this commenced at €200/ac and concluded at a price of €360/ac.
The land is located seven miles from Stradbally and 12 miles from both Portlaoise and Castlecomer. Both of the successful bidders were drystock farmers.

Joseph Coogan Auctioneer & Valuer has another lease up for auction on Friday 11 February at 5pm on the lands at Rathornan, Leighlinbridge, Co Carlow.
This comprises of circa 52ac divided into three fields and would be suitable for tillage, grazing, or cutting hay or silage from. The remaining circa 19ac is suitable for summer grazing and is divided into a number of individual fields.
