TIPPERARY'S Denis Lynch and the 12-year-old mare Pretty Little Liar have scored a double of five star wins this weekend at Treffen in Austria.
The pair came out on top in Saturday’s 1m50 two phase class with the fastest clear round (34.07 seconds), while Mayo’s Michael G Duffy finished fifth with SIEC Anna Jo.
Pretty Little Liar, who is owned by Onyx Consulting Ltd, proved unbeatable again in Sunday morning’s 1m50 speed class to finish half a second ahead of Italian runners-up Alberto Zorzi and Danique.
In the two-star Grand Prix at the same venue, Ireland’s Anna Carway and Ajaccio took third place after they finished with just a time fault in the first round.
Two riders went through to the second round with Germany’s Benjamin Wulschner and Bangkok Girl PP taking victory.
THIRD GRAND PRIX
Meanwhile, on Saturday at Aarhus in Denmark, Limerick-born Shane Carey and the Maria Gretzer-owned mare Fecybelle, won their third Grand Prix in as many weeks.
Their clear jump-off round in 35.84 seconds saw them finish over three seconds ahead of their nearest challenger.
This latest win comes on the back of a double of victories for Carey and Fecybelle over the last two weeks at Sopot in Poland.
At the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida, Co Clare’s David Blake was part of the Irish-themed team who took victory in 10th Annual Great Charity Challenge, with Holy Ground Shelter for the Homeless collecting $150,000 as the lion’s share of the $1.3 million.
