The Women in Agriculture Stakeholders Group (WASG) has elected Dr Edna Curley as their new chairperson.
“It is a great privilege to have been elected as the new Chairperson of Women in Agriculture Stakeholders Group,” Dr ?Curley stated upon her election.
The WASG aim to tackle inclusivity within the agricultural sector and ensure that women receive fair representation for their work. They campaigned to implement two new CAP policies to support farming women, and they campaigned for the first National Women in Agriculture Dialogue- the first specific supports for women that have been introduced in the CAP.
“Dr Curley has been tireless in her support for women in agriculture. She combines the knowledge of what needs to be done, with the ability to get things done, and that skill set will be vital,” former chairperson Hannah Quinn-Mulligan stated, “It has been an honour to lead such a talented group of women. I have no doubt that Dr Curley will continue to drive things forward.”
