The cattle trade was strong once again, with plenty of farmer buyer activity putting a firm floor under prices.

In terms of heavy bullocks, top-quality steers over 600kg sold mainly from €700 to €830 along with the weight, with some 700kg types making well over €1,500. Those from 500kg to 600kg sold mainly from €2.00/kg to €2.15/kg, with the top third making from €2.20/kg to €2.30/kg.

There was a good entry of store bullocks from 400kg to 500kg, which sold from €2.10/kg to €2.30/kg for average-quality types and for up to €2.60/kg for top-quality types.

Heifers from 400kg to 500kg were available in good numbers. Average-quality types made from €2.20/kg to €2.40/kg, with the top third making from €2.50/kg to €2.70/kg.

Weanling bulls from 300kg to 400kg saw good competition from farmers. Prices ranged mainly from €2.30/kg to €2.50/kg or from €800 to €970/head, with plain types making €700 to €780. The majority of cull cows on offer were continentals carrying some flesh. They sold mainly from €400 to €500 along with the weight, with some heavy top-quality factory-fit types making from €600 to €700 along with the weight.
