Last Saturday’s sale at Markethill Mart saw another large entry of stock on offer.

There were 200 bullocks on offer. Continental bullocks sold to £2.32/kg for a 510kg animal. The main demand of forward bullocks saw prices run from £2.20/kg to £2.30/kg for good-quality forward types.

Middle-weight bullocks sold mainly from £2.10/kg for 498kg to £2.53kg for a top-quality 330kg bullock.

Lightweights sold mainly from £2.53/kg to £3.23/kg, with prices averaging around £2.40/kg.

There were 180 store heifers which were met with strong demand. Forward heifers sold from £2.07/kg to £2.21/kg, with prices averaging from £2.10/kg to £2.15/kg.

Middle-weights sold mainly from £2.18/kg to £2.30/kg or from £500 to £650 over the weight. Lightweight heifers sold mainly from £2.10/kg to £2.53/kg.

There were 140 weanlings on offer which sold from £2.35/kg to £2.93/kg for bulls and from £2.20/kg to £2.92/kg for heifers. The suckler ring saw prices range from £1,000 to £1,860 at the top of the market.
