The Department of Agriculture is recruiting for veterinary inspectors. Veterinary inspectors help protect human food and animal feed chains and they preserve the health and welfare of the national herd. They apply and enforce controls that protect public health, animal health and animal welfare, and ensure compliance with legislation – both EU and national.
The salary scale for this position is €54,500 to €88,841 and the positions are located right across the country in the Department’s 16 regional offices, in various meat plants and ports, and in headquarters in Dublin/Backweston. Candidates may select up to three geographical regions on their application and rank them in order of preference. Veterinary inspectors are required to have a valid full driving licence and/or access to a car (which shall not be a hired vehicle).
As travelling between locations is often required for their work, vets will be compensated for travel and subsistence expenses.
Candidates must hold a qualification in veterinary medicine that is eligible for registration with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) prior to the closing date and they must be entered on the VCI’s registry of veterinary practitioners prior to being offered a position.
A master’s degree (or higher) in a veterinary subject or a degree/qualification in any other relevant subject is described as a desirable requirement, as is work experience in veterinary practice, education industry or state body. Auditing skills are also a desirable requirement.
Applications should be made online through www.publicjobs.ie. The closing date for applications is Thursday 3 November at 3pm.
Candidates must create an account on www.publicjobs.ie before they can apply for the positions.
Interviews for these posts are likely to be held in November/December 2016.
Wayfair is a company that runs a website selling home furnishings and decor. It is currently recruiting for candidates to work in supply chain – in logistics, freight, supplier operations and order processing.
A Wayfair spokesperson told Irish Country Living that the company is looking for people with a second European language. The company is also recruiting for candidates in customer service, and for those positions the spokesperson says it’s “very much about the personality and the fit for the company and the company’s fit for the person as well”.
Wayfair’s European HQ is in Galway, so a number of jobs are located there as well as in London and Berlin. For more, visit https://www.wayfair.com/careers.
