The Department of Agriculture is recruiting for veterinary inspectors. Veterinary inspectors help protect human food and animal feed chains and they preserve the health and welfare of the national herd. They apply and enforce controls that protect public health, animal health and animal welfare, and ensure compliance with legislation – both EU and national. The salary scale for this position is €54,500 to €88,841 and the positions are located right across the country in the Department’s 16 regional offices, in various meat plants and ports, and in headquarters in Dublin/Backweston. Candidates may select up to three geographical regions on their application and rank them in order of preference. Veterinary inspectors are required to have a valid full driving licence and/or access to a car (which shall not be a hired vehicle).
