A large entry of 1,425 cattle was offered for sale at Clogher Mart this week, with demand for cattle holding steady.

Beef cows were an exceptional trade, selling to £1,702 for a 750kg Blue animal. Other noted prices saw cows selling to £1,496 for a 730kg Limousin animal and £1,560 for a Charolais weighing 780kg. Good-quality Friesian cows carrying flesh sold to £1.43/kg.

Bullocks sold to a top price of £2.14/kg for a 750kg animal. The general price for heavy fleshed bullocks over 600kg was £1.88 to £1.95/kg.

Forward store bullocks weighing 500kg to 600kg sold from £1.83 to £2.22/kg for good-quality continental-type animals. Friesian bullocks sold from £1.30 to £1.69/kg for good-quality animals carrying flesh.

Heifers sold to a top price of £1,430 for a 680kg animal, with other fat heifers selling from £1,275 to £1,420 for animals weighing 580kg to 660kg liveweight.
