At this time of the year, it’s hard to beat a good farm walk – there is always something to learn and I like to see what other farmers are at.
Fair play to those who host an event. None of us probably appreciate the work that goes in, whether it is power-washing the yard, fixing up gates or making sure the right livestock are in the right place at the right time.
But in these strange times, Co Antrim farmer Ryan McDowell has taken it a step further and actually recorded a series of videos of his livestock for a virtual farm walk next Tuesday 23 June at 8pm.

Ryan is a participant in the Irish Farmers Journal/CAFRE/ABP BETTER Farm Beef Challenge, running 66 suckler cows outside Gleno.
During the live event, Ryan will explain his farm setup, his breeding policy, how he manages grass and targets for his finishing cattle.
There will also be an opportunity to put questions directly to Ryan, and programme adviser Darryl Boyd.
To get access to the event, register at www.farmersjournal.ie/farmwalk by 5pm on Friday. Everyone is welcome. I for one will be tuning in.
