Cork Marts is set to host its first online farm sale this week.
Set for this Thursday, the sale takes place on the farm of Eustace Burke, Carrigaline, who is offering 14 pedigree Angus bulls.
Titled the 'Kings of carcase Angus bull sale', the sale is a first in Ireland for what many pedigree herds have been doing across the world for a number of years.
Online bidding
Prospective buyers have been viewing stock on farm recently, with all bidding done online through the Marteye bidding platform.
Bulls are fertility tested and vaccinated, with the added bonus of free delivery of bulls by the vendor following the sale.
Another key selling point is that bulls can be held on farm for three weeks following the sale until the bull is needed by the purchaser.
Our customers are those who wish to produce progeny that command top tier prices in the calf rings and factory
Speaking about the sale, herd owner Eustace Burke said: “Our customers are those who wish to produce progeny that command top tier prices in the calf rings and factory.
"All our bulls are high-index bulls, with high carcase figures combined with easy calving traits.”
Bulls in the sale range in age from 13 to 17 months, with dairy beef index up to a massive €125.
All bulls are AI-bred and have been outwintered on a commercial diet.
The sale takes place on Thursday 25 March at 1pm and the catalogue is available here.
