There will be no additional payments to Dairygold Co-op suppliers for milk supplied in 2025, according to Dairygold Co-op.

Previously, the co-op paid top-up payments of 0.48c/l (ex-VAT) on 2023 and 2024 supplies along with a top-up payment of 0.95c/l (ex-VAT) on 2022 supplies.

In December 2024, the co-op said it planned to restrict the full top-ups to only those suppliers that spend more than 6c/l in inputs with the co-op.

Following intense criticism from suppliers, it subsequently rowed back from these plans and said that all milk suppliers would receive the full payment.

In any event, no further payments will issue on 2025 supplies.

Welcome development

However, in a welcome development for milk suppliers providing high-solids milk, the Grassroots sustainability payment and the balanced scorecard milk quality payment, as well as early calving payments will now be paid based on solids.

According to a spokesperson at the co-op: “These changes have been put in place to recognise and reward milk suppliers based on their milk solids.

"For example, a milk supplier providing 10,000 litres in January 2026 with Dairygold’s average constituents for the month would gain €184 (including VAT) as a result of these adjustments.”

Previously, these payments were made on a flat cent-per-litre basis, regardless of the fat and protein content.
