Farmers were invited to send their questions and concerns on the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to a panel discussion hosted by the Irish Farmers Journal on Monday.
German MEP Norbert Lins, Ireland’s Midlands-Northwest MEP Colm Markey and Minister of State for Agriculture Pippa Hackett were all be on the panel, which was moderated by editor and CEO of the Irish Farmers Journal Justin McCarthy.
Norbert Lins is the chair of the committee on agriculture and rural development of the European Union. The committee is key to shaping the next CAP as well as policies in the areas of animal health and welfare and forestry.

The director of the Breifne, Leinster and Munster-south Connacht ACRES co-operation zones stated that training is under way to help improve the approval rate for NPI applications.
This six-part series will run from autumn 2024 to spring 2025, with six webinars consisting of a prerecorded ‘day in the life’ of each farmer.
