Tom Arnold, chair of the 2030 agriculture strategy, told this week’s Irish Farmers Journal 2020 Vision webinar that the strategy for Irish agriculture up to 2030 will focus on economic, environmental and social sustainability.

It will be different from Food Wise 2025, which was launched in the context of the ending of milk quotas, whereas now there is the framework of the Farm to Fork strategy, the impact of COVID-19 and uncertainty of Brexit to factor in.

Draft

He expects the strategy and an accompanying environmental impact assessment to be ready in draft form by the end of the month.

That will go out for a public consultation and potentially in place by the end of January.
