The FELLA SM 3570 TL mower is one of four models in Fella’s new centre-mounted range of heavy-duty tractor-mounted disc mowers. With a working width of 3.5m, importer Farmec says that the mower is designed for the farmer or contractor who wants to cut large areas of grass as quickly as possible.
The 3570 TL disc mower uses an over-arm centre-hitch attachment to carry and suspend the bed in the mower’s centre of gravity. Bed suspension is provided by the arm which uses Fella’s hydro-pneumatic turbo lift suspension system.
The Fella SM 3570 TL also features an additional compensating cylinder. This extra hydraulic ram stabilises the mowing unit in the raised, headland position. According to Fella, this allows headland turns to be made significantly faster without any back swing.
The firm’s turbo lift cutter bar suspension system can be easily set or adjusted without the need to use additional tools, which allows the operator to set ground pressure to suit different field conditions, protecting the swath from soil contamination.
All the professional Fella mowers in this series come equipped with a patented slide track. This supports and stabilises the mower bed and supporting arm, counteracting the twisting forces generated by the forward motion of mowing.
Long-term benefits of the system are that it minimises wear and lengthens the service life of the mower.
Another distinguishing feature is an impact guard/break-back system with a pivoting gearbox. This gives the mower a large evasion angle. The gearbox pivots in tandem with the mower on impact, preventing damage to the drive shaft.
The newly developed full-cloth guard over the mower bed is said to be lightweight. This can be folded away to provide optimum access for cleaning and carrying out maintenance work.
The SM 3570 TL mower features the unique Fella compact angular gearbox drive to each cutting disc.
According to Farmec, this system provides exceptional strength, combined with low horsepower and maintenance requirements. Each disc as well as the driveline are protected from overloading due to impact by Fella’s drive guard overload protection system. A profiled disc connects the drive hub and cutting disc. If overloaded, the drive guard disc shears, allowing the disc to rotate freely. The manufacturer says it takes about 15 minutes to replace the disc.
