Ford says its new Ranger Thunder will bring increased style and enhanced specification. Limited to just 4,500 examples across Europe, Ranger Thunder boasts new interior and exterior design.

Ford says the Thunder is derived from the Wildtrak series. The Thunder combines high spec with improved load hauling and tough four-wheel-drive capability.

Ford says that the Ranger had its best-ever year in Europe in 2019, with 52,500 vehicles sold.

Its bi-turbo 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine uses twin turbochargers in series at lower engine speeds for improved torque and responsiveness. Ford says bypassing the smaller turbocharger at higher engine speeds provides maximum boost from the larger turbocharger for peak power.

The Thunder features Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, which has a wide spread of ratios and real-time adaptive shift-scheduling that adapts to changing conditions.

The Thunder is offered in a single spec. Finished in sea grey, the model adds 18in black alloy wheels and ebony black executions throughout. LED headlights with darkened bezels are standard, with darkened taillight bezels at the rear. The interior features ebony leather seats, with Thunder red embroidery and matching stitching.
