Dublin Retreat candle collection by Rathbornes 1488
Renowned Irish candle maker Rathbornes 1488 has launched a new Dublin Retreat collection inspired by the beauty of the Phoenix Park.
Rathbornes 1488 four wick Dublin Retreat candle.
After attending the launch of the collection in Brown Thomas, I can safely say that this candle reminds me of a walk in the woods on a calm day with its fresh, earthy fragrance.
The fragrance includes notes of musk, fresh violet leaves, nutmeg, cardamom, cedarwood, black ebony and amber.
This is a little bit of luxury for the home that any mother will love.
Prices range from €30 for the one-wick candle to €75 for the reed diffuser and four-wick candle. Visit www.rathbornes1488.com for more.

The Irish Garden subscription
This is a gift for all the green-fingered mammies out there.
The Irish Garden is Ireland’s best-selling garden magazine and is perfect for anyone with a love for all things gardening - better than a bunch of flowers.
A gift subscription costs €40. Visit www.garden.ie/the-irish-garden for more.

Afternoon tea at the K Club
Not all afternoon teas are created equal and the afternoon tea at The K Club in Co Kildare is easily one of the best in the country.
Book your mom into their opulent drawing room to enjoy tea, cocktails, fine pastries and delicate sandwiches by a roaring fire.
On a recent visit, I opted to start with their alcohol-free gin cocktail and then went for their Earl Grey tea, though the luxury tea selection on the menu made it difficult to choose.
Their 'curiously curated' afternoon tea menu is €55 per person (their champagne version of the same menu is €75 per person).
Standout items include a chicken and truffle sandwich which bursts with umami flavour and their head over heels pastry, which is creamy, smooth and delicious.
Their scones are so buttery they could nearly qualify as a shortcrust pastry.
You won’t get an actual booking in time for Mother’s Day, but (as a mother myself) I would prefer to receive an afternoon tea voucher on Mother’s Day and then go for tea at a quieter time. Visit www.Kclub.ie for more.
