A calf has been savaged by two pit bull dogs in the Colehill area of Co Longford.
The calf’s ears were bitten off and it also suffered other damage.
The animal had to be euthanized after the attack.

The Irish Farmers Journal understands this is the fourth attack to happen on this farm over the last number of weeks.
The dog warden with Longford County Council Hilary Robinson urged farmers to report such incidents to the warden and the Gardaí, so that prosecution can take place.

Longford Dog Control Services is appealing for information about the pit bulls.
“Very urgent two pitbull dogs on loose in [Colehill] area a lot of damage to animals done. If anyone sees them contact the warden or page,” it said on Facebook.
