The deal is estimated to be worth in excess of €17m over five years and will see IdentiGEN guarantee the integrity of Swiss beef from this year, the company has announced. It may expand to pork and poultry later on.

“IdentiGEN’s DNA-TraceBack technology will provide proof that meat products with a Swiss origin certificate are indeed Swiss, particularly for more processed meat products such as meatballs and hamburgers,” said IdentiGEN Switzerland’s chief executive Thomas Struckmeyer.

IdentiGEN has established a new dedicated laboratory in Zurich. The company is headquartered in Dublin with additional labs and offices in Wales, the US, Canada, Germany and the Czech Republic. It said in a statement that it was “exploring further expansion opportunities”.
