Millstreet International Horse Trials held over the weekend was the first event to run at the Co Cork venue since COVID-19 hit last March.
The action-packed weekend was highlighted by Michael McNally’s win in the Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) CCI4*S class, riding the Irish Sport Horse Eclipto. The 10-year-old was bred by Tipperary’s Jackson Goulding, by Cavalier Carnival and is the only recorded progeny out of Tawna Jane (Puissance).
The Meath owner/rider sourced the gelding for €1,800 at Goresbridge as a three-year-old.
After posting an impressive dressage score of 25.1 and picking up 3.2 time faults in the show jumping phase, McNally was in third position heading into cross country.
The combination, who landed their first four-star win at Ballindenisk International in April of this year, were the only pair to come home clear and inside the time to finish on a final score of 28.3. This allowed them to swoop the win from New Zealand’s Jonelle Price with McClaren.
Price also took third place with Faerie Dianimo, while Cathal Daniels was next best of the Irish in fourth place with the Limmerick-sired LEB Lias Jewel (ISH).
In the HSI CCI4*-L, New Zealand’s Tim Price took victory with Falco, while Lucy Lata finished best of the Irish in fifth with DHI Broadway.
