The equestrianism in Ireland lost one of its great supporters on Monday. Harold McGahern, from Rincoola, Co Longford passed away at home. McGahern was involved and supported every discipline of equestrianism in Ireland.
Not only was he very involved in the Dublin Horse Show, he was also one of the founders of the Future Young Event Horse League, now called the Young Eventhorse Series.
McGahern was involved in the Irish Pony Club and was a keen breeder and owner. He had various horses competing in both show jumping and eventing. McGahern was also a great hunting supporter.
The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday 30 November at St Mary’s Church Granard, Co Longford. More details can be found on www.rip.ie
