In-calf heifers offered during the next on-farm sale from Nelson and James Alexander, Randalstown will be eligible for exporting to the Republic of Ireland (ROI).

Back in July, the European Commission officially approved the ROI’s application for BVD free status which effectively put in place a trade barrier for Irish farmers importing breeding cattle from NI.

However, where NI breeders can produce a negative BVD tissue test and quarantine animals 21 days prior to export, during which a negative BVD blood sample is recorded, then it is possible for breeding stock to be exported from NI to ROI.

The next sale of Jalex breeding stock will see 125 in-calf heifers forwarded on Wednesday 28 December at 1pm, 77 Gloverstown Road, Antrim BT41 3HY.
