Last month, we talked about the positivity in markets and the need for boards to respond and in fairness they have. As you can see below, most processors have increased milk price paid by at least 1c/l on June deliveries.
It all means the average price for June paid out was €4.10c/kg milk solids or 29c/l ex-VAT at base 3.3% protein and 3.6% fat.
Since then, dairy commodity market signals have remained positive, so for some there might still be room for movement upwards in July as peak milk has now passed and the downward summer supply trend starts.
No change
There is no change at the top as nobody is able to match the west Cork co-ops. They drive on well ahead of the rest.
Aurivo has been joined in division two by a number of players that have come up to match the Aurivo price.
Aurivo lifted by 0.5c/l to continue a good run for the western co-op.
The two processors that lifted milk price the highest for June were the two processors that propped up the end of the league in May – Arrabawn and Glanbia.
Both increased by 1.5c/l to bring them back in touch with the other players.
It all means there isn’t much to separate the big players in division two. From Kerry to Dairygold, the price paid is just over €4/kg milk solids at national average solids.
We complete the exercise at national average solids as it better represents what quality the processors are getting and allows fair comparison.

Lakeland Dairies and Tipperary Co-op get pushed out the back door into division three as they failed to reach the €4/kg milk solids benchmark and hence bring up the bottom of the June monthly milk league.
