The Dealer heard the virtual Kerry IFA meeting was about to elect a new county PRO when a text message and an email from candidates with poor broadband made it a postal ballot contest with one click of a button.

County chair Pat O’Driscoll steered the business of the virtual meeting very well – it’s not easy. Lee Strand milk supplier Kenneth Jones and Lixnaw dairy and suckler farmer Kenneth O’Connell are on the ticket for county chair. Delegates have until 15 March at midday to get postal votes returned. Tommy Culloty was elected as county secretary.

Currans farmer John O’Sullivan and Abbeydorney’s John Nolan will battle it out for county PRO in a postal vote. Mary Fleming was elected as the second Kerry representative to IFA’s national council and is the first female Kerry county officer elected. Good luck to all.
