Problem area: Wide hips

If you are a pear shape, which means your body is wider at the hips than at the shoulders, you might automatically reach for a bikini bottom that covers up your bottom half such as shorts. However, this is a mistake. The key to flattering this shape is to attract attention to the upper half. Wear bottoms that are high-cut in the leg and have less material - this makes the area look smaller. On top, go for a lighter colour or pattern to draw the eye up.

Problem area: Small chest

If you want to enhance your upper half, there are a couple of swimwear tricks that will give you an instant boost. For starters, avoid bandeau or plain trinagle bikini tops. These will flatten your appearance. Instead, choose a top that has deatils such as beads, frills or pleats. Don't be afraid to go for an underwire or a padded bra, either, as these will also add shape.

Problem area: Midriff

If you are a little insecure about baring your stomach there are a couple of things you can do to flatter your shape. First off, don't completely cover up. If you choose a one-piece, be sure that it is high-cut in the leg or low-cut on top to create a shape and draw attention from the middle. Secondly, choose a matte material as opposed to a shiny suit as this will cling. Also, look for a good control suit that has shape in the waist - with a wrap detail or a defined waistband. There are lots of great control suits available in the shops right now at really affordable prices, too.

Problem area: Big chest

The best thing you can do for a big bust is get good support. Underwire and adjustable straps are important, but the shape of the top is also key to flattering this shape. Don't choose a trinagle top with draw strings, as it will give little support, and avoid bandeau tops as they can have a uni-boob effect. Instead choose styles that have a sweetheart neckline that will flatter your curves. A nice detail on bottom will also help to balance out your figure and draw the eye down; look for styles that have decoration on the hips such as beading, frills or bows.
