Running for the past 35 years, this festival includes immersive and participatory experiences in circus, music, spoken word and theatre, from the western islands of the Gaeltacht to the lowlands of east Donegal
Highlights this year include Cosán Thoraí, a short walk taking place on Tory Island on 8 and 9 July, which will be in Irish and Scottish Gaelic. Along this walk, participants will see new visual artwork and listen to poems and stories by writers from Scotland and Ireland. The walk is a great chance to engage with the island through art and poetry in a relaxed outdoor setting.
Other events include an acoustic show with The Frank and Walters on 8 July, the Irish Aerial Dance Festival from 17-30 July, the innovative “Human Library”- where readers “borrow” human beings serving as open books on 13 and 19 July and BnaG Cloich Cheann Fhaola 2023, which will be celebrating 40 years since the first Pride in Ireland with live performances and discussions, site-specific art events and inspiring experiences for all ages and genders in Gaoth Dobhair, Dún Fionnachaidh and An Fál Carrach.
