There were lots of thoughtful stories in Irish Country Living during Christmas but it was the article on the companionship service ALONE that really struck a chord with me.
Reading it, I made an extra effort to call in to some of my older relatives and neighbours this Christmas for a catch up. I really enjoyed the chats myself and it is a habit I plan to keep up in 2025.
Also with a bit more time on my hands during the holidays, I managed to try out Neven’s honey glazed spiced carrot recipe. I served them on New Years’ Day, and they went down a treat. I think they will quickly become a family favorite.

Beatles fans can look forward to the very first Kinsale Beatles Festival, in association with Bulmers Ireland, taking place over St Brigid’s bank holiday weekend. The line-up includes a candlelit performance in St Catherine’s featuring The Beatles by The Munster String Quartet, plus tribute acts like Let it Beatles at The White Lady Hotel.

Showcase, Ireland’s creative expo will return to the RDS, Dublin from 19 to 21 January. This year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Showcase by the Design & Crafts Council Ireland. It offers craft makers the chance to exhibit to 3,500 buyers from Ireland and overseas.
