Have you ever met someone who just knows exactly what they want to do in life?

Well, we think Janik Marek is one of those people. Janik is from a small town in Austria, which straddles the Swiss border.

Growing up milking 25 cows, Janik always dreamed big, and has a goal of milking 1,000 of his own cows by the age of 30.

After completing his degree in agriculture, he briefly worked in construction, but decided it was time to go out and see the world.

For the past year, he has been the assistant manager of an 800-hectare farm with 1,000 cows in north-eastern German, close to the Danish border.

400-cow herd

Janik feels that for him to achieve his goal of having 1,000 of his own cows, he will have to travel further east.

As a result, he is taking up a managerial role on a 400-cow herd in Slovakia next month.

The farm is currently installing 12 new milking robots, and is aiming to get to 600 cows this spring.

Janik explained that his first task is to increase the herd average yield from 8,500 litres to 10,000 litres.
