Nigel Paine showed this 3D printed version of a Fiat Hitachi FH130.03 digger that he had made using a 3D printer.
Blake Thompson and Stuart Coleman from Antrim with some of the impressive lineup of models from the Modelfarmer range.
Gary Thompson with a model of the John Deere 6930 which he has converted from an original Weise tractor model in 1:32 scale. Gary modifies the models to make them more authentic and includes detailed and skilful work to include an opening sunroof and windows.
Dominic Marshall from Moneymore, Co Tyrone had this Abbey tub feeder on show.
David Monteith of DM Models had this superb display of silage harvesters, which included Kidd and New Holland models, as shown along with models of the Taarup DC1500.
Well-known model-maker Brian O’Reilly had some fresh new models for the Moira Farm and Construction Model Show last week. These included a New Holland 719 trailed harvester, as behind a modified International Harvester 1056 tractor, with a modified David Brown 1594 tractor towing a model of a locally produced single-axle silage trailer.
Jack Hood from Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone, had an impressive and realistic hilly field type diorama display, which included his own bespoke Zetor Crystal pulling a JF FCT 900 silage harvester and loading a model of a Fraser trailer being pulled by a David Brown 1690 tractor.
Peter Niblock’s visit to New Zealand in recent months affected his display for the Moira Farm and Construction Model Show as he recreated a New Zealand farming scene complete with working irrigator. One of the more interesting models was this 4x4 Mitsubishi truck mounted spraying outfit, which is typical of what is used in New Zealand to complete the diorama scene.
These two 1:50 scale Muirhill tractors were replicas of a series of tractors sold in Ireland up to the 1980s by TBF Thompson of Garvagh. The models were cast by Chris Irwin and include the TBF Thompson dump trailer that was sold uniquely in the local area.
The Modelfarmer team developed this McHale Fusion 2 combination baler from the recently introduced Fusion 2 version. This machine has all of the internal functions of the ASK model from McHales with new exterior panels to give it the Fusion 2 look.
Mark Gilliland had this Fane Valley display of a typical Northern Ireland silage-making scene with a cab-less Caterpillar 910 loader and a twin wheel double axle silage trailer with a single, front-mounted tipping ram.
David Hutchinson from Moneydarragh Farm, Donegal, provided a display of Siku remote control tractors working in a diorama of a typical farmyard. The Fendt tractor was shown removing bales from a typical bar-type round bale trailer and loading into a pit storage area.
Andrew Barton from Fermanagh has created a number of his own models of the McHale baler range, including this model of a the McHale F5500 round baler. He has modified many tractor models to make them more authentic to Irish conditions.
This shows one of Nigel Paine's 3D creations in the making. This is a model of a Case 140CX excavator that has been created by a 3D printing machine to Nigel’s specifications. Nigel then takes the model and prepares it for painting and adds the boom sections to allow it to have movement.
This is a close-up of Gary Thompson’s John Deere model conversions of a Wiking models John Deere 6150R tractor that shows the new alloy steel wheels and new tyres, as well as changes to the cab and front linkages to give a model that’s very authentic and pushes price up to well over €100.
Last week’s Moira Farm and Construction Model Show brought out the best in farm model-making that Ireland has to offer, with a large number of new bespoke models on show from the region. The event attracted some local expertise in model-making that set a new and higher standard for those with an interest in model-making. The level of expertise and the attention to detail in the models was truly amazing. The show has rightly become one of the best known in Britain and Ireland for the creativeness and skill of the model-makers who display their latest creations each year. Model-makers worked hard through late nights in the weeks leading up to the event, to produce some very impressive results.

There were some locally inspired diorama displays that were equally jawdropping in terms of detail. Some were in the more common 1:32 scale, while others were based on Matchbox and Dinky models from the 1960s and 70s.
The event has been run by the Moira Farm and Construction Model Club since 2008. This year, the event was supporting the Action Cancer charity.
Here, we bring you just some of the impressive farm model displays that were on show over the two days of the event.

The annual Kilkenny Model Show will take place at the Hub, Cillin Hill, Kilkenny, on Sunday 8 November. Last year’s event attracted huge crowds, who flocked to see what was the biggest farm model event of its type in the southeast. The show runs from 11am to 6pm.
The organisers are expecting over 60 displays covering farming, construction, forestry, lorries and trains, from die-cast to diorama models.
There will be a further 20 trade exhibitors on the day so that collectors can add to their troves and get an opportunity to check out the latest models on the scene.
