There has been little comfort for vets hoping for a lifeline on rising Veterinary Council fees, after the Department delivered a “hands-off” reply.

When asked if it might step in due to the sharp fee increases imposed on vets, the Department pointed to the rule book, stating that fee setting sits with Veterinary Council of Ireland under the Veterinary Practice Act 2005.

In other words, not our calf, not our shed.
