I’ve put in to coppice some hedgerows under ACRES.

Provided I get in, I’ll start some of it in the new year. But to be honest, I’m nearly afraid to cut the hedges down.

I’ll have to cut them at the butt. I’m getting a good contractor in to do it. He knows what he’s at, but sure as eggs are eggs, the neighbours will be straight on and the young lad down the road will put everything on Twitter.

He doesn’t understand that I’m trying to get rid of toilet-brush hedges and they will grow back bigger and better.

The Department could do us a favour on this.

A few ads on the telly and the non-farming press to explain what we’re doing and to inform the public wouldn’t be any harm. Otherwise, the anti-farmer groups will be out in force castigating us, and we only trying to do our best.
