Dairy-beef is on the up in New Zealand. The number of beef AI straws they’re using in their dairy herd has increased by 18%, according to LIC’s Paul Charteris. He said this is the same percentage rise as the previous three years.
He also mentioned that LIC was investing in its beef breeding programmes as he said the country should prepare for a non-bobby calf future.
To capitalise on this, the well-known breeding company is developing a composite breed, it hopes to introduce in 2027 called the Synergiser.

It’s a combination of Charolais and Stabiliser breeds and might be one to keep an eye on.
