Heavy downpours during Sunday will lead to rainfall accumulations of 20mm to 30mm in counties Donegal, Clare, Limerick and Kerry plus all of Connacht, according to Met Éireann.

On Saturday, Met Éireann issued a status yellow rainfall warning. The warning will come into effect at 2pm on Sunday and will stay in place until 10pm this evening.

Met Éireann has warned that the rainfall will lead to flash flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

Showers

Nationwide, Sunday is forecast to start off mainly dry and bright with sunny spells. But showers will develop from early morning in the southwest. Met Éireann has said these showers will move northwards and eastwards over the country through the day.

The showers will become heavy, with a chance of thunder, particularly in the west. Highest temperatures will range from 18°C to 22°C.
