Following a recent meeting with Department officials in Portlaoise, IFA deputy president Richard Kennedy said the following dates had been confirmed:
Week of 19 September: ANC payments start. Up to 100,000 farmers are set to receive €205m.
Monday 17 October: 70% BPS advance payment begins. The higher rate of advance payment was allowed from mid-October under the latest EU aid package announced in July to alleviate low farmgate prices. The 70% advance represents €825m to Irish farmers. Following delays last year, the IFA "expects the speed of payment this year to better last year as the new system arising from CAP reform is well bedded down now".
October: GLAS payments begin in two phases – 85% at first, followed shortly thereafter by the remaining 15%. Some 38,000 farmers are set to receive €167m this year.
