Two online auctions held last week saw successful sales of farmland.

A 16ac parcel at Shinrone, Co Offaly, made €14,375/ac when sold by online auction, well above its guide of €10,000/ac.

It was sold by Newport, Co Tipperary, auctioneer REA John Lee.

The land attracted keen interest, as is at the edge of the village, with considerable road frontage on to the R491 and facing a housing estate.

Four interested parties registered to bid with the auctioneers and lodged deposits.

The buyer is local to the area with farming interests

Auctioneer James Lee said: “Bidding opened at €120,000 and proceeding in €10,000 bids between three bidders to €230,000.

“Following consultation with the vendor, it was placed on the market and sold at this price under the hammer. The buyer is local to the area with farming interests.”

Kehohe & Associates auctioned a 35.88ac holding at Duncormick, Co Wexford, in three lots.

Lot one, which was 10.42ac at Duncormick Cross, sold under the hammer for €105,000 or €10,000/ac, equal to the guide price.

Lot two, 17.78ac at Johnstown, was withdrawn and is under active negotiations.

Lot three, 7.68ac at Duncormick Hill, sold under the hammer at €10,000/ac.
