A 43ac non-residential farm at Derrygrea, Enniskeane exceeded expectations at auction recently. In the heartland of dairying in Co Cork, the farm is relatively close to the Carbery Group headquarters at Ballineen.
Listed with Lehanes and Associates Auctioneers, it was guided between €13,000/ac and €15,000/ac ahead of auction. All in one block, the land is in grass and laid out in five divisions with frontage onto two roads.
The auction took place on Wednesday, 3 July in the Parkway Hotel, Dunmanway and there were four active bidders involved. Bidding opened at €480,000 after being called down from €500,000. From there, bidding was brisk and jumped in increments of €10,000 offers.
Selling price
When the farm reached just short of its overall selling price, after a brief consultation with the vendors, the property was declared on the market. The few remaining bids brought it to €840,000, almost €20,000/ac.The farm was purchased by a local dairy farmer.
Speaking after the sale, auctioneer, Daniel Lehane said: “I was delighted with the result as it expressed massive confidence in farming, particularly the dairy sector and also reflects the quality of the farm on offer and the area it was located.”
