Quinn's of Baltinglass made profits of €3.1m last year

Quinns of Baltinglass, the Wicklow-based agri-merchant, recorded healthy profit and sales growth for its 2019 financial year. Recently filed accounts show that Quinns’ sales grew by more than 7% for the 12 month period to the end of June 2019, to reach just under €112m.
Operating profits in the business grew by 7% last year to just over €3.4m, as operating profit margins were steady at a solid 3.1%. Pre-tax profits increased 5% last year to just over €3.1m, while shareholder funds increased to €44.5m.
Quinns is one of the largest buyers of grain in the country, purchasing almost 200,000t of grain every year. It produces over 50,000t of animal feed annually. Employee numbers rose to almost 190 people in 2019, while staff wage and pension costs increased to €5.1m.

Quinns operates from its main feed mill in Baltinglass. The company also has a branch network of six agri-stores located across four counties; Avoca (Co Wicklow), Naas, Athy and Lewistown (Co Kildare), Milford (Co Carlow) and Geashill (Co Offaly).
