Mullinavat, Co Kilkenny

Over 120ac of land sold near Mullinavat on Friday last week at a sale held by Walter Walsh auctioneers. Some 40ac at Killahy sold under the hammer for €630,000 (€15,750/ac). A further 20ac at Ballinacooly sold under the hammer for €280,000 (€14,000/ac).

A 28ac parcel at Moneyhenry was bid to €285,000 before it was withdrawn, it was later sold to the highest bidder for an undisclosed sum. Similarly 32.5ac at Ballytarsna was bid to €230,000 before it was withdrawn, it was sold afterwards for “substantially more” a spokesperson for Walter Walsh auctioneers said.

It is understood that the buyers were local dairy farmers.

Meelick, Co Clare

A circa 60ac farm 5km west of Limerick city was withdrawn at €400,000 when it went to auction last week. However, it was sold afterwards and it is suggested that the sale price is in the region of €460,000 (€7,660/ac). The sale was handled by GVM Auctioneers.

Coon West, Kilkenny

Some 16.5ac of grazing land at Coon West, Co Kilkenny, failed to sell at auction last Friday but is currently under offer, Irish Country Living understands. The land, three miles outside Castlecomer and a mile from Coon village, is divided into two fields which both have road frontage. The sale is being handled by Joseph Coogan auctioneers.

Thomastown, Co Kilkenny

A five-year lease of a 59.5ac parcel near Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, was auctioned by Joseph Coogan auctioneers recently.

It was bid to €200/ac and sold afterwards for €250/ac. The land is for grazing only and it is understood that the winning offer was from a local sheep farmer.
