Among recent sales, James L Murtagh Auctioneers & Eamon Drake Auctioneers sold a 28ac residential farm at Liscahill, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, in lots. A house on 0.5ac sold for €200,000. The balance of 27.5ac with the yard sold for €169,000.

The two-storey house has four bedrooms – one en suite – an open-plan kitchen/living area, dining area, sitting room and study area.

The yard has 17 stables and large stud railed sand arena.

Wicklow farm

Quinn Property has sold a 73ac farm near Coolkenna in south Wicklow. The farm had been due to go for auction earlier this year but the auction was cancelled. In recent weeks the owners put the farm on the market again, this time by private treaty.

The farm has now been sold to a local drystock farmer.

The sale price was not disclosed but is believed to be in excess of the guide price of €770,000.

The farm, at Aghowle, is in a mix of tillage and grass. The holding also has 33ac of hill grazing rights on nearby land.

Record price in Kerry

Stuart & Company Auctioneers achieved a record price of €26,000/ac at auction for a 45.5ac holding at Kilcow, Castleisland, Co Kerry.

The 45.5ac at Kilcow, Castleisland, Co Kerry, is excellent quality and has good road access.

The land was described as top quality, is in one block and laid out in six fields. There are no sheds or entitlements to EU direct payments on the holding.

The land has frontage on to the L2024, known locally as the Camp Road. The buyer is reported to be a local farmer.
