The 18-month-old has already won overall male champion at Balmoral, reserve champion at Cork, along with the two championships this weekend. Angus ring
In the Angus ring, Conor Craig and Amanda Bogan continued their winning ways with Millbawn Laura. Sired by Adrossan Admiral and out of a Netherton Mr Brazilian cow, Laura now adds a female championship to her titles after a cracking start to the season claiming reserve interbreed at Dundalk show on her first day out. Conor also achieved top of the line in the Irish Angus showmanship class on the day. Reserve honours went to Michael Horan, Ballina, Co Mayo, for his senior cow Coolcran Francis.
The champion sash in the Belgian Blue ring went to Billy Dunne, Erril, Co Laois, for his heifer Erril Invincible. Sired by Empire, Invincible has already won the Blue section at Cork show this year and first prize at Tullamore last year. In reserve was David Pearson with his September bull, Boherard James Bond, who is sired by Or and out of homebred dam Hunky Dory. David also secured the championship on Saturday with his heifer Boherard Jelly Tot.
Simmental wins for the midlands
Claiming the overall championship in the Simmental ring was Clonagh Darling Eyes from Gareth Behan, Ballyfin, Co Laois. Sired by the three-time Tullamore champion Banwy T-Rex, Darling Eyes has already secured a number of national titles in recent years.
In reserve was Anatrim Bodybuilder daughter Fearna Faith from Martin Mooney, Birr, Co Offaly. This marks Faith’s first day out this year after claiming reserve All-Ireland champion last year.
In a strong Shorthorn line-up, Creaga Marley, fresh from her Balmoral reserve championship win, went on to claim overall champion. This five-year-old Cairnsmore Thrasher daughter from Noel and Lisa Dowd has already won six All-Ireland championships. Jim Foley, Cornageeha, Co Sligo, took reserve honours with Clarencehill Rosemae. Sired by a homebred bull out of Creaga Dice, Rosemae claimed reserve champion two-year-old last year.
Local Hereford winner
Noel Farrell, Moate, Co Westmeath, secured the championship in the Hereford ring with his much admired Brocca Martin. This July 2015-born bull was sired by Kilsunny Goliath. Standing reserve was Trevor Dudley, Thurles, Co Tipperary, with Kilsunny Lass Lily. Lily is sired by the Dudley show bull Glaslough Judge and secured the reserve female championship at Charleville on the Saturday.
Goldstar Falkland picked up the Charolais championship for the Ryan family, Tipperary. This six-year-old is sired by Valseur and back on a President cow. In the Charolais young stockperson category, Megan Searson claimed top spot, exhibiting her female Sheehills Lambogini.
Sheep
In the sheep section, Thomas Kenny, Ballinasloe, Co Galway secured both championships in the Suffolk ring. Champion was his ewe lamb SPJ1602976, while his shearling ram SPJ1502888 picked up reserve.
