Rams sold to a top price of 2,800gns at Ballymena Mart on Tuesday at the NI Suffolk Society’s premier sale.
Leading the trade was a ram lamb bred by Fred Smyth, Limavady, who runs Windyhill Suffolks. It sold to Michael and Marie Jennings, Co Mayo.
A total of 16 rams made above the 1,000gns, with the sale average at 780gns and a 79% clearance rate.

On Monday, Ballymena also hosted premier sales for Dorset and Hampshire Down societies.
Dorset rams sold to a top price of 1,500gns, with the sale averaging £468 for the 100 animals forward. Asmaller show of 30 Hampshire Down rams sold to a top price of 400gns, and an average of £360.
Meanwhile a special sale of Valais Blacknose by Richard and Selina Beattie last Saturday saw a super trade, with prices peaking at 4,800gns for a ewe with ewe lamb at foot. Ewe lambs averaged 3,500gns, with a 100% clearance rate across 63 lots.
