Some 610 farmers who made a TAMS II application in the latest tranche of the scheme will be rolled over to the next one, after the current tranche was oversubscribed. This is the second time that there has been a rollover of applicants.
A total of 3,052 applications were received for tranche 14, which ran from 6 April to 5 July. These were split between 2,377 new applications and 675 applications that were rolled over from the oversubscribed tranche 13, which closed in April 2019.
The applications in the latest round had a total value of €44m.
Some 20% of farmers who applied for capital grants in tranche 14 will now be rolled over to tranche 15, which closes in October.
The list of farmers who will face the delay will be decided by a ranking system used by the Department.
Criteria including the farmer’s age, ANC eligibility and investment-specific information, such as each project’s cost-effectiveness, will be used to rank applicants.
The lowest-ranked 20% will then be moved to the next tranche for consideration, or farmers will have the option to withdraw their application.
The Department said that those farmers whose applications are to be delayed will be notified soon.
