Recently released figures from the Agricultural Engineers Association show that sales of new tractors in Northern Ireland in 2019 were up 8.8% on 2018 figures.

A total of 534 new units were registered in 2019, which accounted for 4.3% of total UK sales. Meanwhile, 2018 figures show that 491 new tractors were registered in Northern Ireland.

Overall, 2019 UK tractor sales figures (over 50hp) were up 2% in comparison with 2018 figures.

In 2018, a total of 12,102 units were sold.

The most popular power band was the 161hp to 200hp bracket which accounted for 2,409 tractors (19.9% of total market).

In 2019, a total of 12,333 new tractors were sold. Again, the 161hp to 200hp bracket proved the most popular accounting for 2,652 (21.5% of total market).

Across the board, 2019 UK sales witnessed some mixed trends for different power bands.

In contrast to recent years, the number of registrations of tractors over 240hp was lower than previous years. There was also declines in the mid power range (120-150hp) and the 80-110hp. Most other power bands saw modest increases.

The total power of machines registered in 2019 topped two million horsepower for the second year in a row. However, the average power dropped slightly in 2019, to 164.8hp (166.6hp in 2018).
