Kevin Cahill has been appointed chief executive officer of ABP UK, after five years with the company.

Cahill joined ABP in 2021 as managing director for Ireland and Poland, bringing with him more than 20 years experience in senior roles across the food sector.

He will now lead ABP’s UK business into its next phase of development, working closely with colleagues, customers and suppliers across the market.

A graduate of University College Cork with a Bachelor of Commerce, Cahill previously spent over two decades with Kepak in the UK and Ireland, before serving as managing director of OSI Europe. Earlier in his career, he participated in ABP UK’s operations graduate scheme in Wessex.

Taking up Cahill’s position is Jerome Aherne, who has been appointed to the role of managing director of ABP Ireland and Poland.

He has spent more than 22 years with ABP, including a decade in livestock procurement and 12 years overseeing ABP’s Polish operations.

Most recently, as managing director of the group’s lamb operation Irish Country Meats (ICM), he led the division to become the first Irish lamb processor to export to the United States.

Aherne is a graduate of University College Dublin (UCD) with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science.

Frank Stephenson, CEO of ABP, described Cahill and Aherne as “leaders” who bring deep sector knowledge, international experience and a strong understanding of our business.

“These appointments reflect the depth of talent within ABP and our commitment to strong leadership across all markets,” Stephenson said.
